So I had this giant argument with my super religious parents at dinner. I got pissed because all it takes is one mention of Ricky Martin (I’m a Broadway freak and he is playing in Evita) to set my father off on a rampage of derogatory, rude, nasty words and sentences because he is gay.
I decided to record a good chunk of it, including my defense and my parents getting mad because I “think gay is okay” and that “it’s not because that’s what the bible says” and all this. I have yet to come out to my parents, but have done so to one of my sisters. You guys I’m shaking quite a bit. Not sure if it’s anger, or hurt, or what. They are terrible, getting mad at me for being happy when I see a couple being open. My grandmother and parents blatantly said they would reject someone gay in our family.
Teach me in your ways of wonderfully androgynous clothing and footwear.
(Seriously, though, I need someone in my life who understands why I’m not straight.)
